Valerie (Vimalasara) Mason-John M.A. (hon.doc) is the author of Broken Voices ‘ex’ Untouchable Women Speak Out. In 2007 they travelled in India to villages and slums listening to their poignant stories. And came back to the west with less complaint. As an international correspondent they covered Bonded Labour in India, and Australian Aboriginal deaths in custody. An award winning author and editor, Mason-John has 11 books including I am Still Your Negro: Homage to James Baldwin and Afrikan Wisdom: New Voices Talk Black Liberation, Buddhism and Beyond. They are a senior teacher in the Triratna Buddhist community, which has a significant connection to the Dalit communities, with nearly half of Triratna Order members based in India.
